How to install Modpack for my Minecraft Server?

This guide covers installing modpacks on your NolimitHost Minecraft server, using the Modpack Manager for one-click installation or manually uploading modpack files.

Before You Install a Modpack

Make sure your server meets these requirements:

• The server must use a mod-compatible server software such as Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, or Quilt. A mod loader (server software that supports mods) is required to run modpacks.
• Create a backup before making changes.
• The modpack version must match the server's Minecraft version.
• Your players must install the same modpack on their client.

Install a Modpack via Modpack Manager

The easiest way to install a modpack is through the built-in Modpack Manager.

1. Open the Modpack Manager — Log in to the Game Panel at https://panel.nolimithost.cc/ and select your Minecraft server. Navigate to Tools > Modpack Manager.
2. Choose a modpack — Browse or search for your preferred modpack in the catalogue. Popular options include SkyFactory, RLCraft, All the Mods, and many more.
3. Select a version — After clicking Install, a prompt will appear allowing you to choose which version to install. Pick the latest stable version compatible with your server.
4. Wait for installation — The panel will download and install the modpack automatically. This may take a few minutes depending on the modpack size.
5. Restart and verify — Once the installation completes, restart your server from the panel. Watch the console (the live window where server messages appear) for any missing dependency or version mismatch errors.

Install a Modpack Manually

If your modpack is not available in the Modpack Manager, or you need a specific custom version, you can install it manually.

1. Download the modpack — Download the modpack files from a trusted source such as CurseForge or Modrinth. Make sure it matches your server's mod loader and Minecraft version.
2. Stop the server — Stop your server before adding or changing mod files, so the server doesn't overwrite or interfere with your uploads.
3. Upload the modpack — Open Management > File Manager (where you can view and edit all of your server's files) and navigate to the /mods/ directory. Upload all the mod .jar files from the modpack into this folder. If the modpack includes a config folder, upload that to the server root as well.
4. Select the correct server software — If you haven't already, go to Advanced > Server Actions and choose the mod loader required by the modpack (Forge, Fabric, etc.). The server must be stopped to change its software.
5. Start and verify — Start the server and check the console for errors. A successful load will show the mod count during startup.

Troubleshooting

Server crashes on startup

Check the console for the first error message — it usually names the failing mod, a missing dependency, or a version conflict. Common causes include:

• Mod loader version mismatch (e.g., modpack requires Forge 47.x but server has Forge 40.x)
• Missing dependencies (some mods require other mods to function)
• Insufficient memory allocated for the number of mods

Modpack not appearing in Modpack Manager

Some newer or less popular modpacks may not be listed. Use the manual installation method above instead.

Players get kicked with "mismatched mods"

Each player must install the exact same modpack version on their Minecraft client. Share the modpack link and version number with your players.
