Install Java mods and modpacks

This guide shows you how to install Minecraft Java mods and modpacks with NolimitHost's installers or upload mod files manually.

Use NolimitHost's modpack installer or mod installer when the content is available there. For a manual installation, upload compatible mod files to /mods. A mod loader (such as Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, or Quilt) is the framework that lets Minecraft load mods.

Before you install mods

The server and players must use compatible combinations of:

  • Minecraft version
  • Mod loader
  • Mod or modpack version
  • Required dependencies

Create a backup before installing or updating mods.

Install a modpack

  1. Open the modpack installer — Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel at https://panel.nolimithost.cc/ and select your Minecraft Java server, then open NolimitHost's modpack installer. If the server is running, stop it first so the installer can change files safely.
  2. Choose the modpack release — Select a release compatible with the Minecraft version and loader you want to use.
  3. Install the modpack — Start the installation and wait until the panel reports that it finished.
  4. Start and verify — Start the server, watch the console, and connect with the matching client-side modpack.

Install a mod manually

  1. Check compatibility — Confirm the mod supports the server's Minecraft version and mod loader. Download every required dependency.
  2. Stop the server — Stop the server before changing mod files, so the running server does not overwrite your changes.
  3. Upload the mod — In the Game Panel, open File Manager in the left sidebar and upload the mod and its dependencies to the /mods folder.
  4. Start and verify — Start the server and check the console for missing dependency, wrong loader, or version errors.

Diagnose a mod crash

Start with the server console, latest log, and crash report. The most useful error often appears before the final line that says the server stopped.

Warning: Remove passwords, access tokens, private server addresses, player information, and unrelated log history before sharing logs with an AI service. Treat the AI response as a diagnostic suggestion and verify it before deleting files or changing versions.
