Set up a NolimitHost Minecraft Java Edition server with server software, plugins, mods, modpacks, or Geyser cross-play.

Choose Java Edition when players use the Java client or when the server needs Java server software, plugins, mods, or modpacks.

Before you begin: Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel at https://panel.nolimithost.cc/ and select your Minecraft Java server. From the left sidebar you can reach the Console, File Manager, World Manager, Versions, and the other tools the guides below reference.

Choose how the server will run

Vanilla or server software — Choose Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, or another supported Java server type.
Mods and modpacks — Run matching mod loaders and mod sets on the server and player clients.
Geyser cross-play — Let compatible Bedrock clients connect to a Java server.
Manage players — Grant operator access, use the whitelist, and moderate players.
Server properties — Configure gameplay, access, world, and performance settings.
Diagnose performance — Identify server, connection, and client lag.
Connect a custom domain — Point an address such as play.example.com to the server.
Reset the server — Erase the complete Java installation and start again.

Recommended order

Create the Java server and select its server software.
Start the server once and confirm a Java client can connect.
Create a backup.
Add one customization at a time.
Add Geyser after the base Java server works.

Warning: Java plugins, Java mods, Bedrock add-ons, and Geyser extensions are different formats. Follow the guide for the server technology you selected.
