Find a Java world seed

This guide shows you how to display the seed used by the active Minecraft Java Edition world.

A seed is the starting value that determines how the world's terrain is generated. Run seed in the NolimitHost game panel console to display the active Java world's seed.

Via the game panel console

Start the server, then log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel at https://panel.nolimithost.cc/ and select your Minecraft Java server. Open the Console in the left sidebar and enter:

seed

In Minecraft

Join with operator access (an operator, or OP, is a player with admin powers), open chat, and enter:

/seed

The result appears in the console or chat. Copy the complete value, including a leading minus sign when present.

Note: Changing level-seed in server.properties does not rebuild terrain that already exists. Use a fresh world when you want all terrain generated from a different seed.
