How to Fix The Isle Server Lag

This guide helps you diagnose and fix The Isle server lag — rubber banding, high ping, and performance issues. Lag doesn't always point to one obvious cause, so fixing it usually means working through a few checks.

Is It Client-Side or Server-Side?

Before changing anything, figure out where the problem is:

• Client-side lag — Only one or a few players struggle. Usually the player's computer or internet connection is the issue.
• Server-side lag — Everyone on the server lags. The server itself is struggling to keep up.

Evrima is far more demanding than Legacy because of its enhanced systems, AI, mechanics, and more detailed map. As player counts grow, the server has to process more constantly.

Common Causes of Server-Side Lag

• Too many players for the server hardware
• Insufficient RAM allocation
• CPU bottleneck (the CPU can't keep up with the workload)
• Too many AI dinosaurs spawning
• Unoptimized, outdated, or conflicting mods

How to Fix Server-Side Lag

Check Your Server Resources

If your server is consistently at full capacity, reduce the max player count or upgrade to a larger plan. Watch the resource usage in the NolimitHost Game Panel to see if RAM or CPU is maxing out during lag.

Lower AI Counts

AI dinosaurs are among the most demanding parts of the server. You can lower AI spawn rates and AI density in the Game.ini file:

1. Log in and stop your server — Open the NolimitHost Game Panel at https://panel.nolimithost.cc/, select your server, and stop it.
2. Open the File Manager — In the left sidebar, click File Manager and open TheIsle/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini.
3. Lower the AI settings — Reduce the AI spawn rate and AI density values.
4. Save and restart — Save the file and start your server to apply the changes.

Remove Unoptimized Mods

Custom mods can hurt performance if the creator didn't optimize them, they're outdated, or they conflict with other mods.
