How to Update Your American Truck Simulator Server

American Truck Simulator updates often, and the dedicated server does not update itself. This guide shows you how to update your server to the latest build while keeping your config, mods, and token.

Step 1: Back Up Your Files

Download copies of these from the server's data folder so nothing is lost if an update changes something:

  • server_config.sii - your settings, name, player limit, and token.
  • server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat - your mod and DLC manifest.

Step 2: Update the Server

  1. Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel, select your ATS server, and stop it from the Console page.
  2. Go to Configuration > Advanced > Reinstall Server to re-run the installer. This validates and updates the server files to the version selected on the Startup tab.
  3. Start the server and check the console log for the version it reports.

Updating on a VPS

If you run the server yourself, update it with SteamCMD using the dedicated server App ID 2239530:

steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir /path/to/server +app_update 2239530 validate +quit

Run it from the same install directory you used originally so the update lands in the right place.

Note: 2239530 is the dedicated server App ID. The game App ID 270880 is used only to create the GSLT.

Step 3: Match Your Game and Mods

  • Version: Let Steam update your own copy of ATS so it matches the server. See Change the Server Version.
  • Mods: After a game update, a map mod may need a re-export. Re-run export_server_packages and re-upload the files if your mods changed. See Install Mods.
Important: Confirm your server_config.sii is still present with your server_logon_token after updating. If it was reset, restore it from your backup before starting the server.
Tip: If a mod is not ready for the newest version, stay on your current build until it is, or step back a version with Downgrade Your Server.
