How to Change the Max Players on Your American Truck Simulator Server

The player limit for an American Truck Simulator Convoy server is controlled by the max_players value in server_config.sii. The supported limit for ATS Convoys is 8 players.

Step 1: Stop the Server

In the NolimitHost Game Panel, select your ATS server and stop it from the Console page. The setting is only read at startup.

Step 2: Edit max_players

In the left sidebar, click Files and open server_config.sii.

Set the max_players line to your chosen value:

  max_players: 8
 }

Save the file and start the server again.

Supported Limit

Setting	Value	Notes
`max_players`	1 - 8	The official ATS Convoy limit is 8 players. This is a hard limit in the game itself.

Important: Values above 8 are not supported. Some setups raise the cap with a client-side override and a modified server, but this is unofficial and can trigger a "player limit exceeded" error or unstable sessions. Keep it at 8 for a reliable server.

Other Load Limits

These related values control how many vehicles the session handles and can affect performance. They are also in server_config.sii:

`max_vehicles_total`	100	Total vehicles allowed in the session.
`max_ai_vehicles_player`	50	AI vehicles allowed per player.
`max_ai_vehicles_player_spawn`	50	AI vehicles a player can spawn at once.

Tip: Lower traffic or AI vehicle limits if sessions feel heavy for players on lower-end hardware.
