How to Downgrade Your American Truck Simulator Server

Sometimes you need to run an older version of American Truck Simulator - for example, when a mod has not yet been updated, or a new update broke something. This guide shows you how to roll both the server and your game back to an earlier version and keep them in sync.

Why You Might Downgrade

• A map or truck mod only supports an older game version.
• A recent update introduced a bug and you want to keep playing on the last working version.
• You need to keep a tournament or event running on a fixed version.

Step 1: Back Up Your Files

Before changing anything, save a copy of server_config.sii and server_packages.sii / server_packages.dat from the server's data folder.

Step 2: Downgrade the Server

1. Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel, select your ATS server, and stop it.
2. Open the Startup tab and set the Server Version field to the older version you want.
3. Go to Configuration > Advanced > Reinstall Server to download that version.
4. Start the server and confirm the version in the console log.

On a self-managed VPS, select the branch explicitly:

steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir /path/to/server +app_update 2239530 -beta <older_branch> validate +quit

Step 3: Downgrade the Game

1. In Steam, right-click American Truck Simulator and choose Properties.
2. Open the Betas tab.
3. Select the branch that matches the server version.
4. Let Steam download the update, then launch the game and check the version shown in the main menu.

Step 4: Re-Export Mods If Needed

If you changed mods to match the older version, re-run export_server_packages and re-upload the files. See Install Mods.
