How to Reset Your Space Engineers Server

Last updated: September 18, 2026

Resetting your Space Engineers server reinstalls it from scratch, giving you a clean set of files. This is useful when the server is badly broken or you want a fresh universe. A reset clears your current files, so back up anything you want to keep first.

Step 1: Back Up Your Files

Download these from the server with SFTP, or save a panel backup if your plan includes one:

  • SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg - your server identity, ports, and mod list.
  • Saves/ - your worlds. Back up the whole world folder, not just one file.
Important: A reset removes your config and worlds. Make sure your backup has finished before you continue.

Step 2: Reinstall the Server

  1. Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel and select your Space Engineers server.
  2. Stop the server from the Console page.
  3. Go to Configuration > Advanced > Reinstall Server and confirm.
  4. Wait for the reinstall to complete. The server files are downloaded again and custom files are cleared.

Step 3: Restore Your Setup

  1. Upload your backed-up SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg back to the server root.
  2. Upload your Saves/ folder back, keeping the world folder names the same.
  3. Confirm WorldName and LoadWorld still point at your restored world.
  4. Start the server and confirm the world loads.
Tip: If you only need to fix a single setting or world, edit or upload that file in Files instead of a full reset. To swap in a different world without wiping everything, see Upload a Save.
