How to Connect to Your Space Engineers Server

Last updated: September 18, 2026

This guide shows you how to join your Space Engineers dedicated server, both through Steam and with a direct connection.

Find Your Address and Ports

Log in to the NolimitHost Game Panel and select your Space Engineers server. Your IP and Server Port are shown on the Dashboard. Keen's defaults are:

Port Protocol Purpose
Server Port (default 27016)UDPGame traffic and server listing.
Steam Port (default 8766)UDPSteam networking and listing.

On shared hosting your panel usually assigns ports from a range, so always read the real numbers from your Dashboard rather than assuming the defaults.

Method 1: The Steam Server Browser

  1. In Steam, open View > Game Servers.
  2. Switch to the Favorites tab and click Add a Server.
  3. Enter your address as IP:Port, for example 123.45.67.89:27016.
  4. Select your server and click Connect. Left 4 Dead-style favorites persist between sessions.

Method 2: Direct Connect

You can also share a direct link that opens the game and connects:

steam://connect/123.45.67.89:27016

This is the most reliable method, because the public server list can take a while to show a newly started server.

Method 3: In-Game Join

  1. Launch Space Engineers and choose Join Game.
  2. Use the Servers tab to find your server by name, or the LAN tab if you are on the same network as the host.
Note: For your server to appear in the public list, set <OnlineMode>PUBLIC</OnlineMode> in SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg. Servers set to private or offline never list publicly, so use direct connect instead.
