SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) allows you to securely transfer files to and from your game server. This guide shows you how to set up an SFTP connection using WinSCP.
Requirements
- WinSCP (free SFTP/SCP client)
- Access to your NolimitHost Game Panel
Step 1: Download and Install WinSCP
Download WinSCP
- Visit the WinSCP Download Page
- Click on "Download WinSCP"
- Save the installer to your computer
Install WinSCP
- Run the downloaded installer
- Complete the WinSCP setup wizard
- Finish the installation
Step 2: Get Your SFTP Credentials
From your Game Panel:
- Log in to your Game Panel
- Select your server
- Click on "System" in the left sidebar
- Look for "SFTP Details"
Step 3: Launch SFTP Connection
Easiest Method (One-Click Launch):
- In the Game Panel, under System > SFTP Details, click "Launch SFTP"
- WinSCP will open automatically with your credentials pre-filled
- Click "Login" to connect
Manual Connection in WinSCP:
- Open WinSCP
- In the login window, enter your SFTP credentials from the Game Panel:
- Host name: Your SFTP hostname
- User name: Your SFTP username
- Password: Your SFTP password
- Port: 22 (default SFTP port)
- Click "Login"
Using WinSCP
Once connected, WinSCP displays two panels:
- Left panel: Your local computer files
- Right panel: Your server files
Uploading Files:
- Navigate to your file on the left panel (local computer)
- Drag and drop it to the right panel (server)
- Or right-click and select "Upload"
Downloading Files:
- Navigate to the file on the right panel (server)
- Drag and drop it to the left panel (local computer)
- Or right-click and select "Download"
Security Tips
- Keep credentials safe: Don't share your SFTP credentials with untrusted users
- Use strong passwords: Change your SFTP password regularly
- Backup files: Always keep a backup before uploading or modifying server files
Troubleshooting
Connection Failed: Make sure your Game Panel SFTP details are correct and that you're using the correct hostname and port.
