Valheim Hotfix 1.0.10 & 1.0.12 — Repairable Deep North Armour, Banlist & Whitelist Fixes

Iron Gate has shipped the first post-launch hotfixes for Valheim 1.0, published on September 11, 2026. Two builds land together: 1.0.10 for every platform, and 1.0.12 for Steam — aimed at smoothing out the first days of the tenth world.

The headline quality-of-life fix is a big one for anyone who has been grinding the new biome: the heavy armour in the Deep North can now be repaired. Alongside it come a batch of new sounds for the biome, a set of Steam-specific fixes, and an achievements opt-in for players who previously blocked themselves with devcommands.

Iron Gate notes that the Steam-specific fixes arrive on all other platforms in an upcoming hotfix, but that crossplay stays fully supported in the meantime — and that after a delay, the Switch 2 patch is out so all platforms are crossplay-compatible again.

As always, the full, unabridged notes come straight from the developerscheck out the entire changelog from the developers of Valheim for the complete list.

🔧 Patch 1.0.10 — All Platforms

Note: the Xbox version of this build is listed as 1.0.11, but it is identical to 1.0.10.

  • The heavy armour in Deep North can now be repaired. The endgame armour set is no longer a one-way investment — bring your ingots.
  • Greydwarf Shamans in the Deep North now deal appropriate amounts of damage and healing — they were previously tuned wrong for the new biome.
  • Punching no longer removes snow, and landing on snow without directly walking now removes the snow — the two snow interactions have been flipped the right way around.
  • Various sound effects updated for several creatures and for the snow in the Deep North.

💻 Patch 1.0.12 — Steam Only

These fixes are fully crossplay compatible and will be extended to all platforms in an upcoming hotfix, which Iron Gate says is being pushed out as soon as possible.

  • Using the Forge of Potential no longer unlocks recipes that should not be unlocked.
  • Items no longer lose their durability and upgrade level when removed from armour stands and item stands — but only if you have not been close to them since 1.0 released.
  • Fixed a crash that could trigger when players tried to access a zone that wasn't loaded.
  • Fixed a banlist and whitelist problem that made them only work with new-style IDs (for example V_123456789) even though they should also accept the older format (Steam_123456789). If your server's lists were enforcing the wrong format, this is for you.
  • A popup message now makes it clearer when you can receive achievements again after they were temporarily disabled.
  • Achievements can be opted into even if you have used devcommands or mods, via a new devcommand — yes i used devcommands but i want my achievements anyway (remove the blank spaces when typing it). Iron Gate's own framing: they leave it to your judgement whether to activate it.
  • It's now easier to fit the Cart through the Timberwood Drawbridge.
  • Jotun Puffs and Magecaps no longer look pickable once they have been picked.

⚠️ Before You Remove Items From Stands

Iron Gate added a specific warning with the item stand fix: they are working on a better solution for the durability and upgrade-level loss, so do not remove high-level items — fish, weapons, armour and so on — from your item stands without a backup if you have been playing 1.0. That applies to community servers where shared stands are common: take a world backup before your members start reorganising their storage halls.

🖥️ What This Means For Your Server

  • Update the server and the clients together. Valheim 1.0 is a fresh, actively patched release, so keeping the server and your players on the same build avoids the classic "version mismatch" join errors.
  • Verify your whitelist and banlist. If you migrated a list written with the older Steam_ IDs, the 1.0.12 fix is what makes it usable again — worth checking who can actually join now that both ID formats work.
  • Back up before touching shared storage. The item-stand caveat above is exactly the kind of thing that quietly deletes a guild's best gear. Automated backups with one-click restore turn that from a disaster into a five-minute fix.
  • Players who used devcommands can now opt back into achievements — useful if your community migrated old worlds or used the console for admin work in the past.
  • Crossplay is unaffected. Even with a Steam-only build, players on other platforms keep connecting, so a mixed-platform community does not need to stagger the update.

Conclusion

The 1.0.10 and 1.0.12 hotfixes are the first sign of Iron Gate's post-launch rhythm: repair your Deep North heavy armour, enjoy the new biome sounds, and let an up-to-date Steam build sort out recipe unlocks, the zone-loading crash, banlist and whitelist IDs and item-stand durability. Server owners should update, double-check their ID formats, and take a backup before letting anyone empty a shared item stand.
