Vintage Story Model Creator 2 (VSMC2) 0.5.0/0.5.1 — New Features & Full Changelog

The team at Anego Studios has been hard at work on Vintage Story Model Creator 2 (VSMC2), and version 0.5.0 (alpha) is here with some important new features plus upgrades to existing ones. A quick-follow 0.5.1 patch fixes a significant bug.

VSMC2 is getting closer and closer to feature-complete, with not much left before all VSMC1 features are implemented. Here's everything that's new in this release.

Key New Features

Drag & Drop Element Hierarchy

You can now drag and drop elements in the element hierarchy to reorder or reparent them while in model mode. This makes organizing complex models much faster and more intuitive than before.

Element Search

A brand new search bar for elements helps you find what you're looking for quickly in large hierarchies. It's a basic text search — no regex or wildcard support yet — but it's a huge time-saver on complex models.

Auto-UV Unwrap Tool

A new automatic UV unwrap tool speeds up texturing considerably, saving you the manual effort of laying out UVs by hand on each face.

Attachment Point Editor

A full attachment point editor has been added, accessible from model mode by clicking the "Attachment Points" button in the top-left corner of the viewport. This lets you define where items, tools, and other objects attach to your model.

Render Pass Control

You can now modify and visualize render passes for elements, with a dropdown in model mode to switch between passes.

0.5.1 Bugfix

  • Fixed a bug that caused all attachment points to be removed upon save. This was a critical fix for anyone publishing models with attachment points.
